Chezasalama.com is a youth-attracting, informative and user-friendly website in both Kiswahili and English that allows youth-relevant information on sexuality, healthy lifestyles, life skills and other related themes to be accessed, communicated and understood effectively by users of the site.

In addition the main aims of chezasalama.com are:

-To become a popular site amongst young people in Tanzania / Kiswahili speaking countries
-To empower young people to make informed decisions and create their own “healthy lifestyles”
-To serve as a vehicle to express young peoples opinions
-To achieve a behaviour change towards safer sex by promoting peer endorsement for safer sex (create trends, what’s in?, what’s cool?)
-To provide information about where health facilities can be found
-To serve as a resource for education material
-To evaluate young people’s research practice and knowledge attitude

the task:

Chezasalama Discussion Forum

The task for the UCC was to implement the design of the website, to build the content management system and related management modules, and to host and maintain the website.

This involved analysis of the requirements, programming of the modules, and training on how to edit the content via the content management system. This system allows the content in the site to be controlled by a non-technical editor, including the management of the articles, news items, upcoming events, discussion forums, live chat, polls, and of course all of these needed to display in both English and Kiswahili.

the result:
Chezasalama.com was launched in April 2004, as planned, by the Member of Parliament Dr. Mwinyi.

The website has received a number of commendations on its content usability and appearance, most importantly from its users.

On average, 3000 users visit the site each week. The discussion forums are the most popular part of the site.
