The
computing Centre of the University of Dar es salaam designs, configures
and sets up LANs (Local Area Networks) and WANs (Wide Area Networks).
We install corporate "Intranets" using Citrix, Microsoft,
or Novell solutions. The University Computing Centre can connect
an existing LAN to the "Internet" using Cisco’s quality
hardware solutions.
Need network services? Contact The University of
Dar es salaam Computing Centre, we can evaluate, fine tune and optimize
your existing network.
Local Area Networking
The Computing Centre through the networking section
is carrying out various Local Area Networks within and outside the
University. At the moment we are in the process of designing and
later on implementing the Local Area Network (LAN) for various University
buildings/departments.
Main Campus Networking
There are existing Local Area networks in some
of the University buildings such as Administration building, Computing
Centre, Education, Chemistry, Chemical and processing Engineering
and in the near future IPI, Library, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences,
IRA, Faculty of Law, Economic Research bureau, Dept. of Civil Engineering
and Applied Microbiology Unit. These network are linked together
to one network with fiber optic cables. Design and implementation
of LANs for the above mentioned University Buildings is now in progress.
Metropolitan Area Network
The University of Dar Es Salaam through Computing
Centre has established Metropolitan Area Network (Wireless Link)
which links the main campus, Medical College, and Architectural College.
With this link the services on Main campus (Internet, E-mail etc)
are also available at MUCHS and UCLAS through the installed radio
link. A Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) covers larger geographic
areas, results from connecting physical distributed Local Area Networks
(LANs) at the three components of the University together to form
a Wide Area Network (WAN). By interconnecting smaller networks within
a large geographical area, information is easily disseminated throughout
the network. In order to communicate today and tomorrow within your
building you need the intelligent cabling system to give you
maximum flexiblity and future proofing.
Wireless Communications and Computer Telephony
Integration are becoming integral parts of networking and The Computing
Centre of the University of Dar es salaam sees increased emphases
for these fields as the technologies mature. We will ensure the interoperability
of these and other developing technologies with your existing systems.
